EXPLORE THE WORLD OF LATIN DANCING WITH US....
Gurdeep Kailey
Valentino first stepped into the DJ role about 2 years ago when he was offered the opportunity to fill in for another DJ who had moved on. With his extensive knowledge in Latin music, he took up the offer to start and hasn't looked back.
DJ'ing gives Valentino an overwhelming satisfaction and energy from the crowd and the community. He thrives on the atmosphere he creates and the extent of just how much people enjoy his music. He loves to share his passion through dance and music.
For Valentino, Latin dancing and music is far more in-depth than what is seen on the surface. Latin music is been taken down through generations of culture. The music itself tells a far bigger story into the lives of our ancestors and gives Valentino an insight into how other people may not be from the same place but every single one speaks the language of music and dance.
Valentino first started dancing from a very young age having first been introduced to latin dancing from the age of 14, where his father taught him how to dance. Following dance, Valentino has extended this love to his music.
Gurdeep started learning dancing at Rio Rhythmics in April 2008 having never learned any dancing before. He got drawn into latin dancing from Forro music!! His favourite dance styles are Zouk Lambada & Samba de Gafieira. Tango & Kizomba are the next dance styles on his wishlist to learn.
Gurdeep started DJ'ing in the later part of 2009 at Rio Rhythmics and then shortly after that started at Casablanca - Sunday Nights Zouk. Since then, Gurdeep has also Dj'ed at 2010 & 2011 Rio Rhythmics White Xmas parties and 2011 Brazil Central.
His Current Resident DJ work now includes:
@ Rio Rhythmics (Friday night Baile, Saturday Latin mix & Sunday's Brazil Beats)
@ Casablanca (Sunday nights - Zouk)
@ Zouk Temptation (currently held at Casablanca's on Thursday nights)
Gurdeep also has dance performances up his sleeve too. His first ever performance was in Celebration of Achievement at RIo Rhythmics in 2008 and White Xmas Party 2008.
Currently, he is part of Rio Rhythmics Student team and has performed at Sydney Salsa Congress 2011, Brazil Central 2011, Melbourne Latin Festival 2012, together with a host of other performances including Brisbane's Eagle Street Mall, a few schools and events like Bravo 2011, Sunshine Coast Brazil Party in November last year.
